But why can our prayers not be global?
For the victims in Bali? Madrid? London? Iraq? Afghanistan? The Democractic Republic of the Congo? Palestine?
People are dying from injustices on a daily basis, and each act is as disgusting as the last.
A true tragedy occued on September the 11th 2001. But there is no way we can say it has had any more or any less an impact on people than any others. And if we care about this one, then we should truly care about them all and be making positive moves to end oppression and murder in all forms on a global scale.
Sabra and (*)(*)(*)(*)ila was a massacre ochertrated in south-west Beirut in September 1982. Approx. 3,500 people were killed. This is just an example, of how other attrocities are being forgotten.
I understand, 9/11 was close to home. And if I may repeat, it was a tragedy. But we can’t just remember this one, we must remember them all and denounce them all the same. And make an effort to end those on-going.
