We are a democratic republic, not a democracy, if you hadn’t known that.
How would things change if every decision was voted on? Would it be good for religion, and bad for the non-religious? Would we have lots of things like Prop 8, but no way to correct things until society as a whole adjusted? Or would it not be that different?
This obviously would not really happen, but just imagine a world where popular was considered right and law.

I can’t speak for Religions but true Christianity would not change at all. Faith is Faith under any circumstances. Thanks for the question and have a great day!

I don’t know what effect it would have on religion, but it would be wasteful and we would never get anything done.
Low Cost Bargain
Save us from the will of the masses. The downfall of the ancient Greeks was that they had a pure democracy with nothing like the Constitution. People naturally go through a process of learning and change but without the stabilizing effect of the Constitution Democracies destroy themselves.
What would happen here without the Constitution…?
Christian Evangelicals would rule. We we be forced to pray, abortion would be banned, we would not have free speech, go to war over religion etc… A simple majority would change the law and they would change it often and quickly.
A complete disaster friend.

The Republicans would just have to find a new reason to scare people other than religion.
